Bathrooms suitable for the elderly – a market with a future

- Barrier-free and individual: Flush-to-floor shower channels are ideal for bathrooms suitable for the elderly.
Strong growth in turnover for shower channels from KESSEL AG
The drainage specialist KESSEL is anticipating a sharp increase in demand for shower channels in the next few years. “The turnover in this segment increased significantly in the first six months of this year. For this reason, KESSEL will be further expanding both its range of shower channels and the sales network,” Alexander Kessel, Director of Sales, Marketing and Human Resources, explains. The increase in demand is mainly due to demographic change. More and more people are becoming older, and thus require a home suitable for the elderly – including a barrier-free bathroom. “This market provides enormous potential,” Alexander Kessel says. All the trades involved in sanitary, heating and air-conditioning should look into the subject of making homes suitable for the elderly, and develop this extremely interesting field of business even better.
Shower channels from KESSEL
At the moment, KESSEL is supplying eight different channel variants under the KesselDesign brand. These include, for example, the LINEARIS Compact channel with a total installation height of only 80 millimetres, the LINEARIS channel, which is only 40 millimetres wide, and the channels of the LINEARIS Super60 series, with a width of 60 millimetres. The different channel types take both different installation conditions and individual design tastes into account. The low installation height of the LINEARIS Compact, for example, makes it particularly suitable for renovation work, and thus for converting an originally normal bathroom into one suitable for the elderly. In addition, it can be installed either tiled over or in a stainless steel finish.
